James A Peoples QC

James Peoples has a civil advocacy and opinion practice with expertise and experience in many areas of civil practice including commercial law, employment law (including discrimination in employment), judicial review, public and administrative law, human rights, and reparation including both professional negligence and personal injury work for both liability insurers and claimants.

Having spent a postgraduate year at Tulane University, Louisiana, James was a tutor in Mercantile Law at Edinburgh University. He was a member of the Sheriff Court Rules Council between 1984 and 1989 and was an Advocate Depute in 2002 to 2003.

James has extensive appellate experience including appearances in the House of Lords, the Privy Council:

• Wisely v John Fulton (Plumbers) Ltd 2000 SC(HL) 95 (personal injury)

• Flynn v HM Advocate 2004 SC(PC) 1 (human rights)
