Jan McCall
Jan McCall was a solicitor in private practice acting exclusively for pursuers in personal injuries actions in the Court of Session and Sheriff Court prior to admission as an advocate in 1999.
She specialises in personal injuries actions and has particular interest and experience in offshore cases.
She was recently junior counsel for the pursuer in Robb v Salamis (M & I) Limited (House of Lords) [2006] UKHL 56; 2007 SLT 158, which involved issues as to whether workers offshore were “at work” for the purposes of Health and Safety Regulations and the meaning and application of regulations 4 and 20 of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
More recently, she acted as junior counsel for the pursuer in Spencer-Franks v Kellogg Brown & Root 2008 SLT 675 (House of Lords), a case concerning the definition of "work equipment" under the 1998 regulations.
