Juliette M Casey
Juliette Casey began her law career in Ireland and graduated from University College Cork with honours in her BCL and LLB degrees. She moved to Edinburgh and graduated with a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, with the thesis, “Legal Defences for Battered Women who Kill: Battered Woman Syndrome, Expert Testimony and Law Reform”. While working towards her PhD she tutored jurisprudence to undergraduate students for two years.
She worked as a Legal Assistant to the Scottish Law Commission and was involved in the Damages for Psychiatric Injury Project, the Insanity and Diminished Responsibility Project and the Trusts Project. She tutors in criminal law to undergraduate students at the University of Edinburgh and she plans to do some part-time teaching on the honours criminal course in 2008. She has published four articles in the Scots Law Times and one in the Juridical Review. In her first year as an advocate, she has taken three industrial tribunal cases to conclusion and has been involved in personal injury, insolvency and constitutional law cases.
She is also a member of the Honourable Society of King’s Inns, Ireland.
