Una F Doherty
Prior to calling to the Bar in 1999, Una worked as a solicitor for ten years. She was a partner in the litigation department of an Edinburgh firm of solicitors for five years. As an advocate, she specialises in personal injury and professional negligence work. She has extensive experience of acting for both pursuers and defenders in cases in the Court of Session and in the Sheriff Court. She has appeared on behalf of families at Fatal Accident Inquiries where there have been medical issues involved. She has also appeared in cases before the Professional Conduct Committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, both to prosecute on behalf of the Council and to defend on behalf of the respondent nurse.

- Wilson v BAE Systems Plc 2007 CSOH 79 – action for damages for personal injuries arising out of an injury sustained in a fall at work; Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992
- Donaldson v Hays Distribution Services Ltd 2007 CSOH 31- action for damages for personal injuries arising out of an accident to a pedestrian in the loading bay of a shopping centre
- Patterson v Lanarkshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust 2004 SCLR (P) 1062 - action for damages arising out of alleged medical negligence; alleged failure to diagnose significant neurological compression and resulting in cauda equina syndrome
- Graham v East of Scotland Water Authority 2002 SCLR 340; 2002 Rep LR 58 - action by a widow for damages in respect of her husband’s death which occurred when he fell into an unfenced reservoir
