Considering the ownership of inshore fisheries

EditorNews

Crispin Agnew, in conjunction with Professor T Appleby and E Bean, both of the University of West England, have an article published in the Journal of Water Law entitled “The Ownership of Inshore Fisheries in Scotland; An opportunity for community ownership” – 2019 26 Water Law pp 70 – 79. The article examines the public right of white fishing in the inshore sea and how it has been restricted in the past until the public right was almost extinguished by the common fisheries policy (CAP). The article argues that with BREXIT there is an opportunity to reconnect inshore fisheries with local communities, which was public policy before the CAP.
