Edwin is a graduate of the University of Glasgow, having gained an LL.B. with First Class Honours. He thereafter gained an LL.M from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Edwin was a Procurator Fiscal Depute before calling to the Bar. In this time, he specialised in conducting criminal trials, at Sheriff and Jury level. He dealt primarily with the prosecution of sexual offences and crimes involving violence and he has experience in dealing with vulnerable and child witnesses. He also dealt with Proceeds of Crime matters. During his time as a prosecutor, Edwin regularly instructed the police in the direction of investigations. Edwin has a knowledge of firearms, having at one point held the Prosecution Policy Portfolio for that matter as well as Serious and Organised Crime.
During his devilling, Edwin gained some exposure to dealing with family law cases. He found this extremely interesting, especially when the cases involved commercial issues. Edwin retains an interest in public law matters and is keen to accept instructions in judicial review matters. His postgraduate education in London expanded into financial and commercial areas which he is keen to develop at the Bar. He is also willing to accept instructions in relation to regulatory crime and white-collar cases.
Since calling to the Bar, Edwin has been instructed in reparations work. He has conducted numerous proofs for Pursuers, in personal injury actions. He is content to accept instructions in such matters.
Edwin has also tutored on the University of Glasgow’s Diploma in Professional Legal Practice Human Rights course.
