Tayyiba is a dual qualified Lawyer, an Advocate in Scotland and a Barrister in England and Wales. She is a tenant with The Barrister Group Chambers in England. Her specialism is Family Law including Islamic Family Law, and Wills and Succession including Islamic Wills and Inheritance.
She graduated from Brunel University London with a degree of Bachelor of Laws. She is a member of the Honourable society of Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1998. She practiced from 1 Pump Court Chambers, Temple. Her primary area of practice was Family Law but she also developed her work in Public and Administrative Law, including Appeals and Judicial Review under Immigration and Human Rights Law.
She has covered all areas of Family Law in England and Wales at all Court levels, including child arrangements orders, divorce and financial settlement, care proceedings, special guardianship orders, pre and post nuptial agreements, validity of overseas marriages and divorce and removal of children from the Jurisdiction.
In Scotland she has a keen interest in all Family and Child Law matters including contact, residence, permanence and adoption, validity of overseas marriages and divorce, pre and post nuptial agreements, financial provision upon divorce and separation, foreign Jurisdiction and cross border issues including child relocation and Hague Convention (child abduction) cases.
Tayyiba has a nuanced understanding in family dynamics, having worked in Scotland with community organisations, domestic violence services, completed a COSCA counselling skills course, and developed an interest in family mediation.
She also has a keen interest in wills and succession, and contentious executries, along with Public and Administrative Law, in particular Appeals and Judicial Review under Immigration and Human Rights Law.
She is fluent in both Arabic and Urdu. She has a comprehensive understanding of Islamic Family Law, Wills and Inheritance, having studied them in Arabic at a reputable overseas institute for a number of years. She has taken these principles to assist in providing practical advice to contemporary family and inheritance issues faced by clients in the framework of UK Law.
