Antonia Welsh, Westwater Advocate and SYLA committee member, is organising the moot aimed at current trainee solicitors who may have missed out on advocacy experience as a result of COVID-19.
The event will take place on Zoom and 20 places are available. Each participant will be allocated a partner with whom they will work collaboratively to draft written submissions and to present the oral argument. Teams will be given 20 minutes each in which to present their oral arguments during the session and participants will receive feedback on both their written and oral advocacy skills from respected members of the profession.
Prior to the moot you will be invited to attend a group session hosted by Antonia where she will discuss the ins and outs of presenting an argument on a remote platform and provide guidance on how participants build their legal arguments.

The moots will take place in the week of 27 July 2020, with the introductory session on advocacy for all of the participants taking place on Tuesday 14 July at 5pm.
Spaces will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
