We are delighted to announce that from 1 February Westwater Advocates will be supporting CHAS.

CHAS’s Corporate Fundraising Executive Stuart Barrie said “We are delighted that Westwater Advocates have chosen Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS to be their Charity Partners for 2020.

“CHAS was formed in February 1992 by a group of professionals and parents of children with life-shortening conditions who had previously had to travel to England for hospice care. We’re proud to say that for over twenty five years, we’ve been providing palliative care, family respite and support to babies, children and young people throughout the whole of Scotland. We do this through our hospices, Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch, our home care services and our hospital presence. In short, it is our aim to be there for families wherever and whenever they need us as they face the harsh reality of losing their child before they reach adulthood.

“We are with families, often from the point of diagnosis, through challenging times and our services extend from medical care through to creative therapies and memory-making, to specialist bereavement support; ensuring we are there for every member of the family for as long as they need us.

“Right now, there are nearly 16,000 children in Scotland with life-shortening conditions. We’re determined to reach every family who needs us, and we’re working hard to extend our services to ensure we do so.

“Here at CHAS we are committed to making sure that no matter how short a family’s time together may be that it is time filled with happiness and fun. We can give children experiences that create magical memories. The families we work with have told us what they want when they use CHAS services and that is to: “feel the wind and sunshine on their faces, to sparkle, to laugh, and to have those memorable moments of joy – moments that will be treasured forever.”

“Every day at CHAS is different; there are laughs, tears and an unstoppable determination and ambition to ensure we live by our motto and we Keep the Joy Alive for all those families that need us the most.”

Westwater Advocates Stable Director Janys Scott QC said “We are full of admiration for the remarkable work of CHAS and pleased to do what we can to assist.”
